In 2019 I was invited to rehearse a new programme at The Bhavan Centre, London, created by a collective of six UK-based Indian classical dance artists. Rooted in Bharata Natyam (Shivaangee Agrawal, Swati Seshadri), Kathak (Meera Patel, Parbati Chaudhury), and Odissi (Elena Catalano, Pallavi Basak Vijay), the group sought to experiment with collective working methods. Their aim was to challenge traditional approaches within their forms and embrace a democratic, process-led way of creating work together.
