The Natya Project offered six young Bharata Natyam dancers in the UK the chance to experience life as professional artists over an intensive two-and-a-half week programme. Coordinated by classical Indian dancer, Magdalene Gorringe, with choreographers Shane Shambhu and Seeta Patel, and supported by Dance Hub Birmingham, MAC Birmingham, and DanceXchange, the project created vital pathways for Yuva Gati graduates.

The Natya Project highlighted both the potential for professional development in Bharata Natyam and the need for greater investment to achieve equity between classical Indian dance and Western dance practices.
