I was introduced to the exquisite storyteller Emily Hennessey in 2023 by long-term colleague and international theatre director Tim Supple. Emily had secured an Arts Council DYCP grant to develop her professional practice and invited Tim and myself to collaborate with her.
Together, we interrogated her art form through a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary lens, exploring and challenging the boundaries of performance storytelling. We focused on deepening her understanding of stories, particularly Indian myths, and encouraged bold creative risks to expand her cultural and creative horizons. The process was a rich and generative exchange, enabling Emily to further refine her voice and artistry.
