21 Tales (2005)
My role: concept, artistic direction and choreography
“A visually stunning and delightfully varied piece, 21 Tales is a fascinating combination of choreography, film and digital visuals."
- The Big Issue
“Funny, touching and in turns beautiful. Debbie Fionn Barr is making the kind of dance theatre that holds the audience from start to finish."
- Ruth Eastwood, Director, Lighthouse, Poole
21 Tales was devised from the Mental Health Testimony project at The British Library’s National Life Stories collection. Using movement, visuals, and text, the production explored the lives of people in emotionally and physically restricted spaces.
The production was supported by Dance South West, Arts Council England, Lighthouse, Activate, Take Art: Dance, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and Bournemouth University, and toured the UK until 2007.
